Yakisugi charred timber
The craft

Yakisugi — the art
of charred wood.

Shou sugi ban is an ancient Japanese technique of preserving timber through controlled charring. The result is a surface simultaneously fragile and enduring — deeply black, textured by fire, alive with natural grain. Each piece carries the marks of its making.
